• Question: what grades do you need to become an engineer

      normally universities will ask for an A or a B in your A-Level Maths, Physics or Chemistry. I left school with an A, B, B, C, D (however these were Scottish highers and I’m not sure of the equivalents sorry).

      Each university specifies what levels they are looking for in their prospectus/ online but note that it is not always required to get these grades and they can still look at you if you fall slightly below.

      Some universities/ colleges set the grades high because they receive a high number of applicants and this helps them reduce the numbers.

      It’s important to look at the universities/ colleges you are thinking about and see what other things it offers i.e. social clubs, city life, sports etc as this will be your life for like 4 years! each course is different in the way it is taught and may have some additional subjects that other universities don’t cover.

      Go to all the open days you can for universities/ colleges, they are great fun and gives you an idea of what the courses will be like because you can speak to the lecturers and other students on the course 🙂
